Julie is a  mother of two and grandmother of two, she has a nursing background, though 
more recently she obtained a first class degree in Women's Health, where she became 
interested in pregnancy and childbirth.

In 1999 she trained as a Doula under the guidance of the world renowned 
Dr Michael Odent. and is now a  member and recognized birth doula of Doula UK.
She sat on the Maternity Services Liaison Committee for her Health Authority region 
during her involvement  as a councilor with the local Community Health Council, during 
which she also campaigned for a birthing pool for her local hospital.

In 2004 Julie trained as a practitioner in birth hypnosis so that she 
could offer women a more natural, gentle, and calmer approach during birthing.
This was followed by a workshop in Natal Hypnotherapy and she also qualified 
as an Essential Oil Therapist in 2002, and finally in 2009 training as a Placenta Encapsulation Specialist
