When I met Julie I knew she would be perfect to help & support me through the birth and my fears, and help make it a positive experience for my husband, our baby and me. Julie really was a fantastic comfort and support, she guided me through additional breathing techniques during the birth, so much so that our daughter was born safe & sound in the birthing pool, and without any need for medical intervention or pain relief other than gas & air. Having Julie as my doula for the birth of my son kept me calm through what turned out to be a fast labour: I think without her the experience could have been very stressful. It was helpful for my husband as well to have someone to share the supporting role with, and meant he was free to look after our toddler when she needed attention, which in turn helped me to relax.
